Nedbank Swakop Food Festival

The Nedbank Swakop Food Festival (@swkfoodfest) was a feast of not only food but music and vibrant people. Starting from the 16th to the 18th, the Swakopmund tennis court parking was filled with food stalls for food lovers from all over.

The first day was a bit slow, not a lot of people were there. Yet the open stalls were up and running, serving good food. On the first day, my friend and I had mini tacos and dumplings. The portions were smaller than what we expected but it was all savoury.

I then had a dopsicle from Jet Blast (@jetblast.nam) and it was delicious. A dopsicle is a cocktail on a stick and they also had fruit popsicles. Out of all these Namibian made popsicles, I had the Pinacolada and it was delicious.

The last day was energetic. There were a lot more people, more stalls came to life, music was playing and many more food items to browse from.  I got to see the Taste Academy, Dez and Liz, Noodle So Fast, Berry Decadent and so many more.
We finally decided on where to eat and settled on Immenhof Farm Butchery. We couldn't resist the smell of fried sausages and onions. The Bratwurst was juicy with the right amount of seasoning. We then had cocktails from The Strand Hotel stall. 'The Rise' paired nicely with the Bratwurst and we were lucky enough to find a place to sit.

Soon live music started playing and it was magical after that. The Yesterday ( @the_yesterdaye) from Windhoek came and stole the show and most people's hearts. They played medleys starting from the likes of Fast Car by Tracy Chapman, blending into afro-beats and amapiano and finally ending it off with Memories by Maroon 5.

When Ronaldo (@r.o.n.a.l.d.o_official) came on stage, the crowd went into a frenzy. His violin playing, accompanied by instrumentals, had people dancing. He was the headliner of the festival and even though his set felt short, it did leave an impact on the crowd. After that, we all let loose and my friends and I got people to do the family dance and the Jerusalema dance.

The night was ended with a smoothie from Mekenificent (@mekenificent ), more dancing, meeting more friends, flavorful wings and fries and even more dancing. This was an experience and I can't wait to make new memories at next year's Nedbank Swakop Food Festival.
