I could not
resonate with most things written in this book, but it was enlightening. The only
eating disorder I knew of was purging and keeping it all until one became obese
or eating none too little for one to become anorexic. I did not know that bulimia existed and that stomach acid could be so corrosive to the mouth that it
eventually could chip away the enamel of teeth.
What did
resonate with me was being forced to do something by your parents and end up hating
it. Jennette was a mummy pleaser. Her mother wanted her to act, but she didn’t. Yet,
being the child she was, she excelled at acting growing up and finally booked
the role we all now know her for. The only good thing, she says that acting has
given her, is financial stability.
The thing that I am glad about is that she grew up. She grew up and became her
own person. She became aware of her toxic behavior and finally got help. What I
have learned is that admitting you have a problem is the first step to getting
help and that might be what took her a while to comprehend.
I honestly don’t
know what more to say. I can’t say that it is a great read because there was
too much information to take in. I don’t take breaks from books I enjoy reading. I
believe there could have been a better approach to relaying all the information
in this book. Nonetheless, do read it as your opinion might be different.
What a triggering title tho right😭😭 but thank you for sharing❤️
