The Marriage Game

Finally, a romantic comedy I could read without end. The Marriage Game by Saara Desai had me glued. Starting this book was a mistake because I just couldn’t put it down without knowing what would come next.

I enjoyed reading The Marriage Game as it was written with tad bits of Indian culture. Thought-provoking topics such as feminism and arranged marriages were spoken about in a light-hearted manner. These topics, in the book, read to me like I was being introduced to them. I say this because if you were to compare the way they are spoken about in real life and in the book, you will realise that they were ‘dumbed down’ to a certain degree so that everyone could understand them.

The story was sweet, it featured a woman trying to work herself up after going viral for the wrong reason and losing her job, all because her boyfriend cheated on her. When men hurt you, they make sure. She is of marriage age and hadn’t found a suitor yet, so her father took it upon himself to help her find the right guy for her. In the end, he kind of did find her husband for her, they both never really knew until the couple acknowledged their feelings for each other.

Trust me, this is the dumbed-down version as there are so many ups as well as downs and I do not want to ruin the book for you all. Do read it if you like spice, not only in your food but in your reads as well.
