Book Review 🌸
I applaud Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's The Thing Around Your Neck as she has shown, with each story told, that she is skilled in writing the misfortunes of women.
When starting this book, I did not know that it was a compilation of short stories and with that said, this was my first time reading a compilation of short stories. I soon realised that I am not a fan of short stories as they just end. End without warning and sometimes end without endings.
Yet, the thought of a continuation of stories kept me glued to the book; the hope that I would read a proper ending kept me reading.
The stories told are the narratives of string black women facing challenges through their lives. All women never experience the same misfortunes as all of them are different yet have a sense of similarity.
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐
